VICTORIAN STAIR RESTORATION

A labor of love restoration to be sure for this wrap-around staircase in a New England 150 year old Victorian. All original stair components including damaged balusters were painstakingly stripped and refinished using traditional methods – meaning no chemicals or solvents were used in the stripping process.

Broken and damaged balusters, risers and treads were removed and repaired before reassembly.

All materials are from original construction consisting of oak stair treads and fir balusters and railings.

Natural finishes were subltley accented with stain for color accuracy with a final water-based urethane for durability. Painted finishes for balusters, newel posts and stair risers were primed with multiple coats of water-based primer and final finish is a high-gloss enamel.
